Welcome to your Art Deli

Online Gallery
Delicartessen was born in Edinburgh in 2007 to promote the art of local and international talented artists and make their works available to a wider audience.
Despite not having a permanent gallery, we organise exhibitions at different venues so that you can see the work in the flesh. art in venue
This icon next to a painting indicates that it is currently on show.
We love the idea of taking art out of the context of a gallery to make it part of daily scenarios and places where people chill out. We believe that art is facilitated by talent, but primarily propelled by a wish to communicate, to tell a story and intended to be seen and reached by as many people as possible.

With this in mind, we try to offer a wide selection of work, often with a whimsical or quirky touch; in media that ranges from contemporary designs in timeless slate, to volatile feathers and enamel, also including more traditional media like oils and acrylics.
Let Art Be the Meeting Point
Following our motto “Let Art be the Meeting Point”, we organise previews where we put the artworks back in context: presenting the artists and learning about the processes involved in their making. These encounters are an essential part of what we do.
All in all, Delicartessen is a bit about demystifying art, and a lot about offering art that is both innovative and affordable. Art that you want to live with, and not just pass by.
We embrace the idea that art can be fun and that the kind of art that attracts us, always tells us something about who we are.

Delicartessen took 7 Scottish artists to Zaragoza, Spain for a joint exhibition celebrating the best emerging talent!
In collaboration with Galeria Artelibre 17th June - 2nd July

The Colour Red
photographs by Gillian Hayes

Red is the colour of passion, energy, movement and love. But in absolute terms it also represents blood, violence and can lead to destruction.
What happens when passion meets reason...?
When the flow of energy is measured & controlled?
Find out from Sunday 22nd of August at Joseph Pearce's Bar, 23 Elm Row, Edinburgh.

This exhibition plays with ideas of passion and restrain, impulse and
control. It explores the duality of our human nature: conscious &
unconscious, sense and sensibility, rational & irrational through a
collection of 14 stunning photographs that combine the artist's creative
talent with her precise technique.
